What is Orientation?
Orientation week or O-Week is a collection of activities and events designed to introduce you to QUT and help you settle in. O-Week occurs before the first week of formal classes each semester.
During O-Week each faculty provides an orientation program for new students where you will be introduced to your course, meet staff and experienced students and importantly have time to talk to other new students. There are also orientation sessions for specific groups, such as international, part-time and double degree students.
As well as the faculty programs, O-Week also includes a range of social events with music, food, and entertainment, which are great places to meet new people and old friends.
Orientation is an important step in the process of commencing university. We strongly recommend that you make the time to attend. Here's what students had to say about last year's program:
